What is Plant-Based Plastic?

Plant-based plastic, often referred to as bioplastic, is a type of plastic material derived from renewable plant sources, such as corn, sugarcane, potatoes, or tapioca. Unlike traditional plastics, which are primarily made from fossil fuels (petroleum), plant-based plastics are manufactured using organic matter.
